As I watched the show tonight, I felt like a true MAMA BEAR — the definition of “beaming with pride.” My face was warm with joy (and a few tears, I’ll admit it) as I watched our beloved Southern California FMA Family dance their hearts out in celebration of FAMILY and SISTERHOOD.
Keeping this secret hasn’t been easy but every one of our dancers stuck by their commitment (ahem NDA) not to share any details before the big day. When we shot this back in January, we had no idea how long it would take for the rest of the world to see it. Sure, TMZ broke the story immediately, but that was focused on Khloe dancing while pregnant in public. Let me tell you, if I ever thought in our more than
that WE owned the market in surprising unsuspecting bystanders…well…let me step aside! Because seeing the way these girls mesmerize people is like nothing else I’ve ever seen.
It was super sweet to see fans light up in shock and excitement as Kourtney and Khadija walked by them. It was also a little scary-crazy to see people act as one might act at the zoo when the lions are awake. It’s alarming, really…how brazen people can be with a mega-celebrity’s personal space. I was so impressed by the way they handled it though. To be able to outwardly keep your cool with that many cameras, shout-outs, pointing, “discrete” filming, and frozen stares…it takes a warrior, that’s for sure.
I’ve always been a fan, but now that I’ve spent just a tiny bit of time with this family, I can tell you without hesitation that they are kind, fun, and full of heart. They had a way of making us normies feel like they too are just valley girls/moms/sisters/friends. Until we remembered the size of their audience. WHOA!
It was an honor to dance for Kim with her sisters, and to be in on the prank. Teaching them the dance, being so warmly welcomed into Kourtney’s home, was surreal, but also felt perfectly in line with all the amazing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities we’ve had during the last nine years.
So, as I reflect on this epic adventure, and bow to the Pop Culture History Gods, I want to say THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to each and every flash mob dancer who joined us for this surprise. Without you, we wouldn’t be here. Thank you to ROBERT SCHULTZ for his fun choreography, thank you to SAMANTHA B. for her amazing producing skills – taking such great care of our dancers and getting every last detail handled, and of course thank you to the Kardashian Fam for reaching out.
